Blood Pressure Lowering Smoothie!

My wonderful Father-in-law passed away from heart failure and since then, heart health has been… close to my heart so to speak. This week we had a fantastic class at the clinic over Heart Health!
I created this spicy sweet (w heart strengthening superfoods) smoothie yesterday & it’s too good not to share!

The blood pressure lowering secret: the POWER is in the POMEGRANATES! Pomegranates are higher in antioxidants than most other fruits & studies have shown when eaten regularly they have helped reduce systolic pressure AND atherosclerotic plaque. Pomegranates combined w spinach & bananas is a super combination to lower blood pressure! So DRINK UP!
If you’re wanting to reduce blood pressure and pomegranates aren’t in season or you can’t find them I highly HIGHLY recommend taking a high quality pomegranate supplement to help reduce blood pressure. If you’re taking blood pressure medicine, talk to your doctor 1st before taking blood pressure meds with any nutritional supplements.


Spicy Sweet Heart Healthy Smoothie

  • Spinach – a big handful
  • 1.5-2 TBS cacao powder
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 scoop Athletic Greens
  • 2 TBS Pomegranate seeds
  • Crushed ice
  • A pinch of ground cayenne
  • H2O or Milk of choice to desired consistency
  • BONUS: a tsp of prebiotics for a gut boost!

Blend all ingredients together in a high powered blender or NutriBullet (my go-to for years!) and enjoy immediately!
