Traveling can be tough when it comes to staying on track with your health goals. However, with a little planning traveling healthy it’s totally doable! Following these easy 3 must-knows for healthy travel can not only keep you on track but make for a more fun and an R&R filled vacation.

#1 – Follow Portion Sizes

Vacation requires eating out more than usual. Restaurants are notorious for sneaking in extra calories (and unknown ingredients). But, don’t fret! Knowing your portions can save you a ton of calories while still enjoying your favorite foods. For instance, if you’re craving ice cream, have 1 portion – 1/2 cup of your ice cream of choice. It’ll fix the craving without consuming too much.

#2 – Drink tons & TONS of water

I can’t encourage this one enough! It can be tough to choose healthy foods when away but drinking at least 64 oz per day is a natural appetite suppressant. Plus it can give you increased energy and boost your metabolism. It’s a win-win! Take your water bottle with you everywhere. It’s a good reminder to constantly be drinking water. If your water bottle isn’t available then opt for bottled water. It may be annoying to have to pee all the time but it beats having low energy and the ramifications of having to work off added weight when you get home.

#3 – Don’t scrutinize over everything you eat.

It’s a vacation & it’s supposed to be relaxing. Be conscious, yes, but don’t try to count every calorie or be overly concerned if your food contains not-so-healthy ingredients. That’s why we have livers! Our liver protects & detoxifies, plus our bodies are designed to get rid of anything harmful – especially in moderation. Scrutinizing over everything you eat will just increase stress and negate your efforts for healthy traveling. Stress effects every part of the body on a cellular level. Traveling when stressed makes for a fun-less vacation & can cause more harm than good. Above all – be conscious but de-stress, recuperate and have FUN!
